The Committee as
at January 2010
Chris Pickles is Committee Chairman. He and his wife
Dagmar have lived in Gilling for 38 years and brought up three children
here. They have two grandchildren. Chris taught for many years at
Gilling Castle, after which he did an MPhil at York University and then
for some years edited a magazine on the history and archaeology of the
Middle Ages. Chris lives at Rectory End, Church Lane, Gilling.
Stephen Hill is Vice Chairman. Retired in 2007, having been an
agricultural scientist and
research manager, Stephen lives at Bag End at the south end of the
village. Married to Glenda and with three children and six
grandchildren
spare time is used in the garden and trying to be a photographer. Stephen lives at Bag End, Main Street, Gilling.
Sue Smith is
Committee Secretary. Moved to Gilling in 2000, having taken
early retirement from a post in the field of education. Sue is married with three grown
up children and four granddaughters. Helping with community
projects takes up most
of her spare time. Sue lives at Woodland View, Church Lane, Gilling.
Liz Leach is
the Treasurer and is an accountant currently working in York. Liz and
Stuart live at Canon's Garth with Christina their daughter.
Simon Harrison
returned to live in Gilling 9 years ago after
spending 23 years in the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm.
Married
to Lynn with two children Christopher 16 and Kate 13, he
currently works as a contract Aircraft Technician Team Leader for VT
Aerospace at RAF Linton-on-Ouse. As a
former pupil of Gilling School Simon is keen to see
the building restored to its former glory. Simon lives at Harton House, Station Road, Gilling.
Allen Harrison lives at Sycamore Cottage on Cawton Road, Gilling
Louise Hicks lives at Cockpit Farm, Cawton.
Mary Wragg is a
chartered physiotherapist working both at York Hospital and privately.
She has three children and has lived in Gillling East for the past 6
years at Glebe Cottage, Main Street.
Kevin Lally works for Aviva in York and lives at Mitford House on Station Road. Kevin has four young children.
Catherine Birch is trained
as a professional fund raiser and works part-time. She has three
girls (two at school) and lives at Steeplechase, Grimston
